At the time of purchase, I wouldn’t have necessarily considered myself a ‘boat person’ — the boat was more my husband’s passion, and I was just along for the ride, so to speak. But since owning the boat, everything has changed. We’ve enjoyed countless hours exploring our surroundings, swimming daily, fishing, and seeing our home from new perspectives. Now, I’m completely hooked — and I might even be more enthusiastic than my husband! I have my boat license, and while I had little experience behind the wheel, our Grand G680 is so easy to handle that I’m now driving it confidently on my own. I’ve even taken it out on the open seas, where the boat handled beautifully. The journey was smooth and unaffected by the swell, thanks to the inflatable sides, which effortlessly absorbed the conditions.
In the control area, the Garmin navigation system has been a game-changer, especially when navigating shallow waters. My favourite feature is the fishing chart, which not only shows the water depth but also tracks the boat’s path, allowing me to easily follow the same route again. The motor lowering and ignition start are simplified with just two buttons, and there’s a convenient glovebox for storing essentials like keys, sunglasses, and licenses.

The design of the boat is exceptional — it’s incredibly practical and comfortable. The inflatable sides and soft edges make it easy to move in and out of the boat, while the strategically placed hooks and ropes ensure docking and undocking is effortless. The durable flooring is not only tough but surprisingly comfortable underfoot. Safety is a top priority for us, especially when we have kids onboard, and I can confidently say that the boat provides a secure and enjoyable experience for everyone. Plus, the shade sail has been invaluable for me (as someone with fair skin), allowing us to use the boat all day long rather than just during the early morning or late afternoon. From the cushioned lounge areas to the handy cup holders, demountable table, spacious storage, and even the built-in refrigerator, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to enhance the boating experience.
Now, I can’t imagine life without our Grand Boat. One of our favourite activities is anchoring in 2-3 metres of water and jumping off the front of the boat, swimming to the ladder at the back, and doing it all over again. The sheer joy of it is unmatched, and we laugh like kids every time.
