FAQ
Trailerable RIB Boat Frequently Asked Questions
What is a trailerable boat?
A trailerable boat is one that can be towed on a trailer behind a standard road vehicle. Grand’s trailerable RIBs are designed to tow behind a standard car or ute without requiring an oversized tow vehicle, oversize flags, or special road permits.
Do I need a special car to tow a Grand RIB?
No. Our range of trailerable RIBs are towable behind a standard car or ute without exceeding the 3.5 tonne tow limit. You do not need a heavy vehicle or commercial tow setup.
Are Grand Boats within the 2.5m Width Limit For Australian Roads?
What is the largest trailerable RIB in the Grand Boats range?
The Grand G850 at 8.5 metres is the largest trailerable model in the range. Fully spec’d with a full tank of fuel, water, batteries and electronics, this boat weighs 2090kg, keeping it under the 3.5 tonne tow limit that many cars in Australia have. With tubes inflated, the overall width of the boat is 2.95m which exceeds the 2.5m width limit for most Australian roads, however you can deflate the tubes to keep the boat within the 2.5m limit.
Trailer RIB Boats For sale
Making boating more accessible is at the heart of our trailerable RIB range. Every boat in this lineup sits within the 2.5m width limit for standard road travel in Australia, and for models that run slightly wider, the hypalon tubes can be deflated to bring the boat within that limit without any special permits or oversize flags.
Our smallest trailerable RIBs run from 3m to 4.7m. Lightweight, stable and quick to hitch up, they launch easily at any standard boat ramp and are compact enough to take on caravan trips, towing comfortably behind a caravan or motorhome.
For those after more boat, our midsize RIBs from 5m to 6.8m step up the capability without stepping up the towing demands. The Grand G580 in particular is a popular choice for families who want a lightweight RIB that is easy to tow and can easily be stored in a garage or driveway.
And for those who want to go larger still, the Grand G750 at 7.5m remains well within the reach of a standard tow vehicle and remains a comfortable tow for experienced boat owners.
Whether you’re after a boat for fishing, a runabout, or a versatile everyday boat, our trailerable range covers it. Get in touch if you need help matching the right boat and trailer to your setup.
